Jil Sander’s inspiration for AW 2012 looks as if Batman, Keanu Reeves (as Neo in The Matrix) and a Shoreditch inhabitant were his top three muses.
The pure, unadulterated lashings of leather are a welcome symbol of danger and mystery. From the suits, coats (waist length all the way to almost floor-length), trousers, right down to the gloves, he holds no prisoners with his solid use of the material.

Still, there are some crisp white shirts, a few woollen jumpers and some suits that are suitable for a day at the office, incorporated into the collection for a touch of subtlety. Batman can’t venture to the high street in flat out leather all the time.
He’s gone back to black. It seems that danger, high voltage are the buzz words of this season. Who ever said it’s chilly outside needs to think again, or better yet, think Jil Sander. He’s got it covered.
