IDOL’S TOP 5: MUSIC TRACKS » Blog

1) Zola Jesus – Seekir

Philosophical popstress Nika Roza Danilova, serves up another awesome video with her Zola Jesus outfit for the single 'Seekir', taken from last years well received 'Conatus' album.  Shying further and further away from the goth tag placed upon her of yesteryear, the video sees her push the envelope of defiance with an all white, avant-garde, sci-fi-esque video…

2) Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti – Only In My Dreams

Freak-folkers Ariel Pink… release the single 'Only In My Dreams' taken from their imminent album 'Mature Themes'.  This 60’s sounding Summery, retro track, offers more melody, vocal harmonies and jangly guitar but with a refined, polished edge.

3) Cat Power – Ruin

Cat Power returns in September with the release of her ninth studio album 'Sun'.  The album will be the first collection of original songs since Power’s highly praised 'The Greatest' album released in 2006. Word has it that Power has taken on a fresh direction musically, check out the preview video for the track 'Ruin' and hear for yourself.

4) Iggy Azalea – Murda Bizness

The future is looking bright for Australian rapper-come-model Iggy Azalea.  With numerous labels currently showing interest in signing her up and recently bagging herself a modeling contract with Wilhelmina Models International Inc, Azalea is fast rising through the ranks.  She will soon be giving the likes of Nicki Minaj and Azealia Banks, a run for their money, when she releases the official video for the infectious 'Murda Bizness'.  In the mean time check out the studio cut.

5) Grizzly Bear – Sleeping Ute

Brooklyn based rockers Grizzy Bear will release their fourth album 'Shields' in September - three years after their breakthrough 'Veckatimest'.  If the glorious lead single 'Sleeping Ute' is anything to go by, then 'Shields' sounds set to build on the bands success.
