It hardly ever gets more lady-like than this: The Savoy's lavish Lancaster Ballroom, super feminine figure-hugging dresses with delicate floral prints, lacey boater hats and gloves. No, we're not talking about a tea party thrown by the Queen herself, it's Erdem's SS/12 collection, presented at London Fashion Week. Although we have to admit – if we ever were invited to see the Queen, we'd definitely pick something from this collection! Capturing the elegance of days bygone and paying homage to classic silhouettes, Erdem created a beautiful and delicate collection of chic dresses. In a sort of Miss Marple gone fab style, the collection introduces adorable, mini lace boater hats and stylish gloves. Paying attention to detail, Erdem plays with the previously mentioned classic shapes and silhouettes, with accents such as lace insert sleeves.
In quite daring fashion for Erdem, this collection also introduces hot pants – with blue hydrangea print and lace panelling, or lemon hued poppy print - so perfect for summer picnics and very 1940's pin-up. In a nutshell, the collection is easily described as “floral, feminine, 1940/50's silhouette” but this description really doesn't give full credit to the elegance and chic personality Erdem captured with these designs. What can we say? We now have our outfit for meeting the Queen sorted!
