January 14th saw the highly anticipated Dolce and Gabbana Menswear show hit Milan’s Metropol, and for the rest of the world without a ticket; the facebook feed streamed the show live over the social networking site.
The shows press release heralded an all-Italian affair, from the tailoring to the sound of Giuseppe Verdi by Luciano Pavarotti. Set to a backdrop of decadent baroque furniture piled high to make space for the exhibition.
The first of the predictably beautiful men appears in a stunningly tailored full cape, from this point the dramatic, to the point of almost gothic, looks flow.
As promised by the press release we see a luxurious colour profile of “All the grey hues with hints of bordeaux, dark green and camel.” While coats and tailoring dominate proceedings by virtue of their impressive tailoring and ornate decoration, the accessories are mouth watering.

Stunning medical bags that would not look out of place in the hands of Doctor Jekyll. Also catching our attention are the floppy ribbon bow ties and the intricate gold filigree, which delicately adorns everything from socks to hats and coats.

A suitably theatrical ending offers a surge of impeccably clad models down the runway. None of which would look out of place around an 18th century campus.
