Welder, fabricator, artist, designer and comic book collector. There’s not much that Clare Whittingham can't do.
Her eclectic collection of studded bunny ears, skull headpieces, metal bustiers, spiked shoulder pads, metal studded caps and metallic chokers look very sci-fi in the hippest possible way. And her interest with comic books seems to be a leading influences in her work.
She designed a metal belt buckle in collaboration with Vidal Sassoon. And for Rachel Freire’s SS12 collection, she created a metal knuckle duster. One hell of a knuckle duster. It should really be called a hand duster because of how enormous it is. Also making a steel shoulder piece and chiffon headpiece, she is something of an up-and-coming name. Crazy, but achingly on-trend.
Whittingham is certainly one to look out for. She isn’t just like everyone else on the creative scene.
