From a small town in Florence, Italian designer Carlo Volpi moved to London in the 90s. Boy, do his designs take knitwear to another level. Small wonder really, since he’s a graduate of both Goldsmiths and Royal College of Art.
If you thought chunky cable knits were restricted to your senile grandad’s wardrobe, think again. Because Carlo brings acid colours, 80s silhouettes and swag to his knitted designs.
Shoulder pads, cropped vests, chunky embroidered detailing and eye-wateringly bright tones are what make his designs deliciously daring. Unconventionality is what he’s all about, and that’s the type of style we love.
House party fans will finally be able to feed their appetite for jazzy prints and popping primary hues. Real old school cool - all you need to add is a mad afro and a set of headphones blasting LL Cool J’s ‘To Da Break of Dawn’.
