Ashley Isham is known for his draping and love for opulence – a statement proved very real by his A/W '12 LFW show. Held at a rich venue in the heart of St Paul's, the baroque room created a perfect background for Isham's collection. Somewhat contrasting from his S/S '12 collection this season the designer introduced elements of clean, sharp tailoring – capes and blazers in wonderful colours of black iris, carmine pink and smoked pearl paired with draped dresses in frost grey, deep tea, violet and grape creating a clear transition from Isham's inspiration to the finished product.

''Inspired by the city girl with a passion for clean line, contemporary statement dresses and tailoring. The smart yet urban look that loans a rich but solemn air to the clothes, is one which will lead the individual from day to evening, with the clean and simple silhouettes created." An interesting addition to this year's collection was also an introduction of statement prints – pixelated florals in rich colours against black background created an elegant yet fun aesthetic.

The use of embellishments and appliqués proved itself an instant success amongst the audience – the heavily sequinned dresses and skirts seemed to capture the heart of Jameela Jamil who even took a cheeky snap on her phone. The decadent and rich collection met with a general applause, and even an added element of drama didn't seem to ruin the show – Ashley Isham might remember this show as The Day The Music Died (we're full of admirations to the models who braved the catwalk in complete silence, proudly strutting their stuff as if nothing happened!) but we'll remember it as another successful show from Isham!

After the show IDOL caught up with Ashley Isham for a quick chat.
